INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE (11 FEBRUARY)

“Today, only one in three science and engineering researchers in the world is a woman.” – UN

Girls and women are prevented by structural and societal barriers from entering and advancing in science. Gender inequality, school closures due to violence and a greater burden of care in the home are the greater contributing factors. Yes, COVID has not helped too.

As a school, FAMAKS is a leader in providing the Girl Child with the needed support to dream, choose a career path and follow it through, especially in the sciences. The ratio of girls to boys in our Senior Secondary school has been 2:1 since 2019. The ratio is also the same for our alumni body.

We celebrate all the women out there with groundbreaking research in science and all the girls following closely in their footsteps.
